2009–2010 season

Next Up: Our 10th Anniversary Season!

The 2009-2010 concert season will be our 10th and will culminate in a gala 10th Anniversary concert and celebration at season’s end. But between now and then we have a number of special treats planned for you to mark this significant milestone.

Our Christmas Concerts on December 12 and 13, 2009 will feature the world premiere of a VOICES XXI commission, a work for Christmas by Washington-area arranger and composer Jerry Brubaker, former chief arranger for the United States Navy Band. We will also perform a Magnificat by Spanish composer Cristóbal de Morales on these concerts.

In early spring of 2010, we will present the Fauré Requiem accompanied by chamber orchestra. This work was a favorite of the late Bill Martin, a choral singer and dear friend of many of us in VOICES XXI. A bequest from Bill’s estate enabled the chorus to get its start back in the fall of 2000.

And in late spring, we will present our 10th Anniversary Concert, “Let Music Fill the Air.” A highlight of this program will be the world premiere of another VOICES XXI commission, a work for chorus and guitar by Minnesota-based composer Jeffrey Van. You may recall that we performed Mr. Van’s setting of Civil War poems by Walt Whitman in May of 2006.

As you can see, we have a very exciting season planned for our 10th anniversary. We hope that you will join us at our concerts and celebrate with us!
